Last week...........it's been a couple weeks since I've posted, so I need to do some catching up!
First up, Payton got a few stitches in his head. He was with me at the high school girl's volleyball games one Wednesday night a couple weeks ago. I was calling lines for the games inside and He and Quint were outside in front of the gym playing. I'm standing at the edge of the court paying attention to the game when Quint runs in the gym yelling, "Mom, Payte's hurt!" Then in behind him comes Payton just crying and bleeding all over. He had been hit in the head with a rock! I gathered him up and took off outside to get him to the doctor. There was a group of teenagers standing right outside and I asked them what happened. They told me that one of the freshman volleyball players had thrown a rock and hit him in the head. Apparently she was aiming for another high school boy and Payton was caught in the crossfire. I was pretty bent to say the least!
Off we went to Snowflake Medical where Payton got stitches in his head to close him up. He was really upset and hurting a lot. After we got him stitched up we went back to the gym to find the girl. I found her and she started apoligizing profusely to Payton. I got her parent's names and told her we weren't mad; it was an accident-although a very stupid one-afterall.
The next morning her mother called us and told us she would pay for the medical bill-whew! It cost $260.00 for a few stitches and about 15 minutes of work! I shoulda' been a doctor.........Anyway, then the school had all the kids involved in the rock fight write an apology letter to Payton and they delivered the letters, balloons, candy and four Lobo ball caps to his school a couple days later. Once he saw all the gifts he forgot about the pain! They did a great job of setting things right and we appreciated it so much! We're grateful for good people like Kevin Standerfer, the athletic director at Snowflake High School. Thanks, Kevin!

Glad to hear he is doing much better. It's not fun to have to get stitches.
ReplyDeleteOuch! That looks like it hurts! Candy & balloons are always good for a cheering up! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is such a horrible feeling to see your child with blood running down their head. Glad he was o.k.!
